The Venezuelan fashion designer known for his architectural silhouettes and modern couture approach to fashion made another sensational appearance at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, showcasing his free-spirited, daring and chic FW15 creations at the Lincoln Center tents, NYC.
This time, Angel Sanchez played with the idea of a mysterious woman who is bold, adventurous and eclectic by nature.
She is a fearless creature; a rule-breaker and an educated risk-taker who is frequently tempted to experiment with diverse textures and fabrications, such as perforated leather and vinyl, metallic neoprene and printed acetate.
Angel looks at eveningwear in a new way: a touch of the 70’s mixed with the straightforward demands of today’s modern woman results in fluid gowns adorned with bold brass fastenings that double as jewelry; lean pants that are meant to be paired with structured laser-cut blouses trimmed in brilliant tile-like sequins.
Tech fabrics mingle with luxe materials in a wardrobe that reinvents femininity and sensuality. His muse is very confident, strong, fresh and imposing. The designer takes glamour to next level with figure-enhancing silhouettes and attention-grabbing wearability.
Simplicity and minimalism with selectively used details that amp up the structure of the clothes, are the main elements of his work. Along with the gowns, the cocktail dresses and the ensembles, I was very much drawn to the brightly colored velvet shoes, the artsy smoky eye makeup, and the center parted sleek hairstyles.
The palette was statement-making too with lots of gold, black, red, and white. Most of the looks were color-block or monochrome, but you could also notice some incredible colorful brocades and an eye-catching graphic black&white print.
Angel favorite’s game is revealing some skin through geometrical patterns, see-through fabrics, cut-outs, mesh, perforated materials and other techniques. It’s always classy and to-the-point; never exposing more than what an elegant woman feels comfortable with!
VIPs in attendance included actresses Vivica A. Fox (‘Celebrity Apprentice’) and Ana De La Reguera (Netflix’s ‘Narcos’); 2014’s Miss USA, Nia Sanchez and Miss Universe, Paulina Vega as well as socials Adelina Wong Ettelson, Yaz Hernandez, Cece Cord and Alexandra Lind Rose.
I’m completely in love with some of the dresses and I can think of many special occasions one could actually sport them as real stand-outs!
