Back in September amidst New York Fashion Week’s frenzy and excitement, and among myriads shows and events, I was thrilled to attend a totally unique event. Two very special friends – artists by nature and genuine to the core – got married in their newly renovated home in Brooklyn.
In a purely industrial setting and landscape, Jean and John created the most romantic and intimate atmosphere ever, with lots of very emotional moments and lots of fun as well. It was an urban fairytale wedding; a dream that came true for both.
In a beautiful terrace with a train passing by as part of the horizon and a little late summer rain pouring over their heads but causing only smiles, the bride wearing an exquisitely embroidered Jenny Packham dress and the groom a made-to-order Ralph Lauren Purple Label outfit by a Double RL & Co designer that came directly from Milan, exchanged vows for a wonderful life together full of love and happiness.
Friends and family all responded to the special occasion’s black-tie dress code which was ‘Art Deco with abundant sparkle and retro details.’ Men in tuxedos and most ladies in glittering floor-length gowns added an Old Hollywood glam feel to the event which included besides other surprises a similarly themed live band – a real treat for the couple’s guests and a great beginning to an unforgettable party.
Their first dance, then their happy mingling with the crowd, the balloons, the moves, the cocktails, the cake, and later a groovy dj set that sent everyone on stage, were the best highlights and produced the most spectacular snaps of great style and great joy!
Jean even made for us sparkly headpieces and for men sparkly pins to further sync with the Great Gatsby spell of the moment. It was as if we came out of a movie set – the least to say is that we were all fabulous!
Jean, who is my favorite jewelry designer, and John, who is an exceptional sculptor, equally touched us with their heartfelt speeches. Their warm aura of kindness and generosity was indeed indispensably inspiring. I wish them Love forever because, as we all agreed that night, this is all that matters in life!
