As I’ve told you long ago, I’m a huge fan of the unapologetic frivolous whimsy seen in the collections and presentations of Laurence & Chico. For FW18, the avant-garde designers created a scene borrowed from the surrealism of fairytales.
The designer duo created a collection partially inspired by Alice in Wonderland, mixing masculine with feminine, and infusing it with some sarcastic elements. Beyond the endless imagination and the fantasy, they show great craftsmanship in the ways they articulate fabrics and silhouettes.
There is both a pop-culture and an couture element to them. We loved the fluffiness, the quilts, the fringes, the tiered ruffles – always the pearl embellishments – as well as the tweed and plaid motifs involved. Styling at their presentations is insane. They create their own atmosphere that makes you looking forward to their next.
I was lucky enough to be backstage and take as many photos as I liked. Most of them are already posted on Instagram, but I can definitely present a few more here just for you to get the aura of it and start dreaming. As you already know many artists – including beloved Cardi B – have been dressed in their over-the-top amazing pieces. Take time to admire where uninhibited creativity can go!
