In his Fall/Winter 2022-23 called “Victorian Matrix,” Christian Siriano dressed women in various fabulous shades of blue and experimental materials/ fabrics.
He used vegan patent leather for suits, tops, pants, and paneled dresses, both color and shine being completely eye-catching!
Layers like a coat and a bubble puff-sleeve jacket that were made of quilted denim were ultra-sophisticated and sensational. Denim with velvet made an incredible ensemble!
He combined some beautifully tailored tops with side-ruched skinny pants, including the patent leather ones he mixed with a zebra-motif faux fur jacket.
Corset-like tops and boleros were part of his layering scheme. Corsetry and puff sleeves alluded to the Victorian era. If you are ready to shop, such pieces are must-haves!
Zebra came in as a motif in various cases, along with classic plaid, and a floral one down the runway. Still, monochromes, meaning blue and black, dominate the scene for FW22.
A ball gown crafted from quilted lace fabric was a real showstopper. Dramatic eveningwear is his expertise, so there were many special-occasion eye-catchers in the collection.
Revealing details like sheer layers, paneling, cut-outs, and straps are definitely of the moment, and Siriano incorporated them into his party looks. Bubble peplums and hems played with different volumes. Discreet shine or embellishment was featured in some creations, making them even more exciting and festive.
His idea of glamour carries a touch of quirkiness and whimsy, yet some of the dresses, especially tea-length ones were really classic, the blazer dress being one of my favorites.
Whether it was navy, cobalt, indigo, or powder blue, this palette mixed with black epitomized modern-day elegance in the way many great designers have done in the past. This blue vision reminds us of great moments in fashion’s history including Karl Lagerfeld’s Chanel Haute-Couture Spring/ Summer 2012 Show, an all-blue collection.
For those already charmed by the description of Christian Siriano’s FW22 Collection, these pieces are made in NYC and many are made to order to be shipped to you in 4-6 weeks. So make sure you have plenty of time for any occasion or event you are attending.
