For Fall/Winter 2023, AKNVAS‘s head designer, Christian Juul Nielsen, was inspired by the grandeur of his Danish heritage, crafting a collection reminiscent of regal American attire. Merging influences from vintage work attire, grunge, and elite New York fashion, the line featured outfits for men, women, and unisex styles, urging viewers to envision them as fit for royalty.
The collection debuted with a striking coat combining vibrant faux fur and glossy black leather. Bold patterns continued to dominate, with vibrant yellow florals adorning snug turtlenecks and pants, and a similarly bright animal print decorating dresses and tailored pants. There was an innovative take on denim, with a distressed jacket and a skirt featuring bold ruffles beneath a fitted blue top. Work attire was reimagined in lively hues of brown and blue, injecting freshness into traditional pieces like pocketed shirts and pleated pants.
Eye-catching knitwear showcased intricate designs, notably a sweater with diamond cut-outs and exaggerated shoulders. Elegance shone through ruffled dresses and grand gowns fit for upscale events, whereas playful collared shirts paired with vibrant gloves added a quirky twist to men’s evening wear. With knitwear as a central element, one of the memorable designs featured a textured green sweater layered beneath a matching cardigan, alongside unique turtlenecks that playfully revealed the chest area. Ultimately, AKNVAS’s FW23 collection masterfully balanced avant-garde creativity with classic sophistication.
