Established Greek designer Aslanis presented all these “oh so many” collections of beachwear, casual looks, eveningwear and bridal gowns in one Spring/Summer 2011 mega show at Athens Fashion Week. He mostly impressed us with the volume of his work, and left us confused with countless less, more and over-worn styles not necessarily related to one specific concept or philosophy. Perhaps he wanted to offer enough variety for each one to choose the suitable. We can easily remember though the vintage floral, tribal and artistic motifs, the vivid colors, the fluid forms, the light fabrics, the full lengths in skirts and dresses, the luxurious embroidery and some of the usual “cupcake” bridal gowns in sophisticated versions. Many pieces could be called Bollywood-inspired but most of them are wearable and make the perfect contrast to the Cycladic white. You can definitely make an impression with these looks but if you already have some Aslanis’ dresses on your closet, you don’t need to get new ones. Trendiness is not the topic here. Nevertheless if you do not belong to his long list of clients and fans, then it’s time to get in. Most of the dresses have nice tailoring, are made of high-quality fabrics and above all are feminine and all-time classic.
