Badgley Mischka SS 14: French Riviera in the Late 20’s!

ss14_badgley1

For Spring/Summer 2014 Badgley Mischka endorsed the trend of French-Riviera-inspired collections, but at the same time went back in time presenting the 20’s and 30’s there, a more romantic and luxurious version of the style. Ethereal fabrics, springtime tweeds, silk satins, and lace adorned or complimented with beads, embroidery, and draped details made up a collection that transcends time and talks about the eternal value of femininity. Their dresses and ensembles are always a balanced, fresh version of eveningwear, with stunning details placed strategically and in the right amount. You’ll see beading on one side of the dress, a glamorous little cape over a plain white gown, or some draping in areas of the body the designers seek to accentuate.

There is never exaggeration, never a hint of ‘too much’; yet all the dresses are bold and eye-catching. When there is lots of texture or an expensive, overworked lace, then the color is quieter. When the fabric is shiny, the line is simple. Their silhouettes are clear and elegant. Those girls strolling at the French Riviera during the 20’s were good girls! Even the bra tops they were wearing now at the MB Fashion Week show looked timid and chic! After all there were little tasteful cardis on top!!!
