For Spring/Summer 2014 Bibhu Mohapatra created a precious mix of exotic prints, futuristic forms and haute couture attitude. In his magically cohesive variety he managed to blend a great deal of geometry with softer, more organic forms, showing again his hand in pleating, trapping, asymmetry, and tailoring. The construction of these flawless looks seems extremely demanding and, for sure, there is a special talent behind that. Bibhu is a master in modern-day eveningwear but this time he made it edgier.
The cracked-glass motif, the 3D floral adornments, and the digital version of the Indian flora – in a charming color palette – proved the experimental mood of the designer. Marrying these subtle futuristic elements to super feminine silhouettes and classic couture techniques, he came up with red carpet treasures as well as with pieces that can easily boost every woman’s confidence. His muse is definitely a strong, elegant woman with very distinct style, youthful at any age, yet with a sweet tooth for haute style and luxury. She’s modern, daring, and chic. The designer responded successfully to her needs by being selective and balanced. All his wow elements are placed strategically and to the right amount. No excess of glamour, just what feels right!
