CNMI & Camera Buyer Italia Open MFW at the Fashion Hub

Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana inaugurated the Milano Fashion Week, scheduled from February 21 to 27, 2023, this evening at the Fashion Hub, a meeting place and cradle of innovative projects, open to the public and the city of Milan. The Fashion Hub, supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and ITA-Italian Trade Agency, which have always supported innovative start-ups and emerging brands, moves to Palazzo Giureconsulti, a prestigious stage in the heart of Milan.

During the opening ceremony, the winners of The Best Shops Award, an initiative born from the collaboration of CNMI and Camera Buyer Italia, were revealed: CAVIA and ASCEND BEYOND. The winners were awarded of a dedicated communication package on CBI’s institutional channels, a direct communication channel with buyers and, in addition, the inclusion of their collections for one season on ikrix.com, the association’s official marketplace.

Budapest Select

Also at the opening of the Fashion Hub, three brands, PINETIME CLOTHING, UNREAL INDUSTRIES, ZSIGMOND, part of Budapest Select, a mentorship programme dedicated to Hungarian talents, unveiled their collections in the presentation room. The other four brands, ABODI, CUKOVY, KATA SZEGEDI and THEFOUR will be the protagonists of a collective fashion show on Thursday 23 February at 4 p.m. in Via San Luca, 3.

Throughout the week, the Fashion Hub will host a series of initiatives and activities focused on promoting emerging brands and designers who in this special place will have the opportunity to meet the most important players in the fashion system. The activities and projects planned for the new edition of the Fashion Hub leverage CNMI’s core values, including experimentation, innovation, craftsmanship,sustainability, inclusion and education. Three will be the pivotal projects in the Fashion Hub’s calendar of activities.

DESIGNERS FOR THE PLANET, a project that will feature the collections of 9 brands selected by a technical jury based on their attention to sustainability. The jury, which met on January 26, is composed of Sara Sozzani Maino (Creative Talent Curator, International Brand Ambassador CNMI), Sabrina Scarpellini (Co Founder & Fashion Director Massimo Bonini), Beppe Angiolini (Sugar), Gianluca Cantaro (EDITOR_IN_CHIEF & CO_FOUNDER STXDYOZ), and Paolo Naldini (General Director Cittadellarte-Fondazione Pistoletto Onlus) and Paola Arosio (Head of New Brands & Sustainability Projects CNMI), selected the brands: PAIRI DAEZA, SAKE, BE NINA, ILARIA BELLOMO, CAVIA, SPACCIO, ASCEND BEYOND, OH CARLA, ENDELEA.

A GLOBAL MOVEMENT TO UPLIFT UNDERREPRESENTED BRANDS, curated by Blanc Magazine Editor-in-Chief Teneisha Carr and CNMI. The collaboration, aimed at implementing activities to enhance multiculturalism in the fashion industry, aims with this project to celebrate the work of underrepresented designers by giving them the opportunity to unveil their creations in front of an audience of global players in the industry. A. POTTS, DIOTIMA and TORLOWEI are the brands selected to participate in this edition of the project.

MFW FORWARD – a project that includes designers particularly focused on research, innovation and experimentation, able to combine these aspects with new trends and cultural changes. The brands featured in the project are FROY, ACBC, VISION OF SUPER, LESSICO FAMILIARE, ARA LUMIERE, FLORANIA, GENTILE CATONE, SAN ANDRES MILANO, APNOEA, MARCELLO PIPITONE, who will present their collections at the Fashion Hub alternating throughout the duration of
Fashion Week.

Instead, a rich program of EDUCATIONAL TALKS will be held in Giureconsulti’s Parlamentino Hall: Milan fashion schools, foundations, companies and Associations will come together to discuss different issues related to sustainability, valuing diversity and business organizational needs, in order to share different experiences, inform and educate. From D&I, connection between fashion and nature, sociocultural anatomy of digitization, consumer trends, creativity, portfolio review, are some of the contents that will be explored during the week.

A special focus will be dedicated with UNIC to the excellence of this material, its values and false myths to be shattered. ITA-Italian Trade Agency will also be present as part of a talk related to internationalization and consumer trends. Among the protagonists of the Talk: ITA-Italian Trade Agency, Milano Fashion Institute, Accademia Costume & Moda, IED MODA, Istituto Marangoni, Cittadellarte -Fondazione Pistoletto Onlus, UNIC, Scalapay.

For the duration of Milan Fashion Week, Scalapay, CNMI’s official partner, will once again set up a customized space where it will organize engagement and interactive activities aimed at all those visiting the Fashion Hub.

Class Editori, CNMI’s media partner, will also be present at the Fashion Hub with a dedicated space in which interviews will be conducted and live content amplified by the ClassTV Moda channel will be broadcast.

LVRoom by LuisaViaRoma

In addition, inside the Fashion Hub spaces, LuisaViaRoma will present LVRoom, a styling suite with an exclusive selection of garments chosen from the latest, most innovative proposals from emerging designers and big brands. Throughout the Fashion Week, the showroom will be open to the public and LVR will offer a select circle of talent, celebrities, influencers, media personalities and VICs the opportunity to choose the most suitable looks for the appointments and events of Milan Fashion Week.

For the entire duration of Fashion Week, buyers and journalists selected and accredited by CNMI will be able to take advantage of a shuttle service to move easily between the various appointments of Fashion Week. They will also be able to take advantage of the CNMI Lounge at Palazzo Giureconsulti. Fashion and design meet in the Vip Lounge by Kartell, set up with furniture and lights made by the Milanese brand that places beauty and sustainability at the center of its design. The Lounge designed specifically to welcome national and international operators, as well as providing a catering service, will allow guests to toast with Franciacorta.
