My third day at the NY MB Fashion Week started with an amazing Ruffian FW 14 show instilled with monkish spiritual flavor and filled with interesting colors, contrasts and prints! It was partly medieval, partly sacred with an implied religious theme and many interesting ideas such the red tights, the ruffled collars and the intricate flowing sleeves! It was luxurious, artistic and edgy at the same time!
Then I went for more sportiveness and even more heritage at the Lacoste show, which went back in time to give a very sophisticated and smart collection of high-quality easy-to-wear pieces. The palette included more neutrals than usual while this time Felipe Oliveira Baptista used softer fabrics to create more organic silhouettes. Most of the looks were matchy-matchy but in a good sense, playing with the idea of a comfortable monochrome ensemble that one can wear all day long!
In line with the great names of the day, I had the pleasure to attend the Herve Leger show with very seductive glamazon silhouettes, signature bandage dresses and alluring cut-out on almost every dress! Max and Lubov Azria continuously evolve in their technique and style telling always a new story about their bodycon images! We saw an amazing interplay of textures, and materials on super sexy looks that make you feel undeniably confident!
Later on, I saw another aspect of femininity at the Monique Lhuillier show, which was full of majestic and romantic looks with a modern twist and a knack for structural haute couture tecnhiques! Red carpet girls have once again many options to choose from her collection!
After this immensely glamorous atmosphere, I came across another rising power in the fashion industry; the Asian designers as a whole. Some of them decided to join forces and present the evolution of their style, their very fresh and cool ideas as well as their great talent in structure and intricate patterns! Pattern-making is something they can boast of. There is long heritage behind that!
Some others, though, such as Kati Stern for Venexiana have made hundreds of dresses and combos starting with one main pattern – the mermaid gown with a train at the back – and giving us interesting variations of eveningwear! I loved some of the great details at the back of the dresses, and was impressed by the styling – especially hair and accessories! Models on the catwalk looked taller than ever!
After this feast for the eyes, I enjoyed a really luscious Lebanese dinner at Ilili restaurant in Murray Hill. Stay tuned for more MB NY Fashion Week coverage coming soon!!!
