Still pondering over statement pieces to update your wardrobe? Rebecca Minkoff FW15 collection is one of my favorites including things that I crave to wear during the upcoming NYFW! To my wishlist I’ve already added her shoulder bags with stunning ethnic straps, all things fringed (from knits and dresses to outwear and accessories), her shearling-detailed jackets, and her amazing booties combined with intricately woven fishnet tights! I want to be that confident girl with bohemian attitude!
Fall draws its inspiration from Patti Smith and her evocative memoir “Just Kids” that document her mystical relationship with Robert Mapplethorpe while painting a vivid portrait of bohemian New York in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s as they forged their artistic identities.
The collection is influenced by Smith’s own androgynous, rock-inspired style while also referencing her brush with icons like Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and Grace Slick during her tenancy at the Chelsea Hotel. Guitar strap inspired embroideries, studded leather jackets and pants, mixed prints, military denim, rich velvet, engineered studding, and flowy chiffon dresses recall that rhapsody in a modern way, informed by the current indie rock style renaissance.
With a vision of building a lifestyle brand for the downtown romantic, San Diego-born designer Rebecca Minkoff founded her company in 2001 after she developed a small apparel line. She spent the next few years working on the small collection until 2005 when Rebecca developed the “Morning After Bag”. The bag became an overnight sensation and Rebecca began solely concentrating on developing additional styles to build out her romantically themed day-to-night handbag collection. After four years of consistent growth in accessories under her belt, Rebecca returned to her original love of apparel design and introduced a ready-to-wear collection in 2009. Rebecca Minkoff’s designs are a favorite for modern, trend-setting everyday women and celebrities alike.
This is the epitome of NYC-cool!
