Among sexy school girls and modern day Caryatids, you could easily figure out the designer’s effort to be simple and impressive at the same time – mission impossible of course for many, and mission half-accomplished in this case. His geometrical approach and clear-cut tailoring had to fight over his familiarity with drapery and the interplay of volumes, which was not smart enough to convince us that he can actually control or exploit the whims of fabric. He still tries to do something “out of the ordinary” but he hasn’t done it yet. Nevertheless we believe that Stelios Koudounaris has potential, quite evident in this collection’s mutated Grecian looks and his bandage-like elements in many of his fitted pieces. We liked the combination of black with midnight blue more than that one with the silvery nude, which is difficult to compliment most women’s skin tone. A warmer shade of beige or grey would be much more preferable as a choice. Apart from that, the Fall/Winter 2011/12 collection included some interesting, catwalk-eye-catching elements such as the shorts worn with black stockings and the black horn-rimmed glasses at the first part of the show. We are quite sure that some daring young girls are ready to adopt such details. (Watch also the finale’s video at the bottom of the page)
