He surely is one of the most influential fashion designers right now and after his move to New York he seems much more liberated in embracing his original art and pop culture-filled vision about fashion. The eclectic spirit of Raf Simons got full expression in his recent menswear show staged at a China Town grocer and inspired by Ridley Scott’s classic cult movie that ‘predicted’ back in 1982 a surge of the Chinese population for L.A. by 2019. A sequel is scheduled for this fall. Mixed with concerns on global warming and related floods, the clothes and accessories presented, were rain and humidity-proof. As a girl in fashion, I’m looking forward to embracing clear nylon umbrellas, raincoats, and rain boots, as well as weather-proof layering and hats. Fashionistas will definitely tap into this trend for September’s New York Fashion Week, hoping for weather conditions that justify its adoption. Plus edgier creatures would love to embrace the cyber punk aspect of the futuristic epic.
Lots of love!
